Noola
A customisable, interactive accessory holder
Brief: Design and manufacture a market-ready product within a design sprint, balancing user needs, materials, manufacturing, cost, profitability, and a retail installation.
Duration 4 Weeks
Students want affordable, fun jewellery storage, but the category is underdeveloped compared to stationery or makeup organisers. Noola turns a daily ritual into a delightful interaction with a mini companion. This is achieved through a snap-fit, limb-based holder with an organic, creature-like form, spec'd for injection moulding at $19.99 RRP with a 91% gross margin.
Research into people aged 18 to 30 pointed to a desire for value-led, identity-driven products over purely functional ones. Ideation spanned stationery, jewellery, sensory soothing and makeup organisers before narrowing on jewellery as the clearest market gap.
The form was prototyped in modelling clay for fast shape iteration, then rebuilt in Rhino using SubD modelling. Snap-fit joints replaced an early ball-and-socket design for better movement control and interchangeable limbs. The final prototype was manufactured via FDM/PLA, with packaging in a matcha and soft pink colourway aligned to the target audience.
